Star Minds Inventory Management System
J.A.S TELECOM

Star Minds Inventory Management Systems (SMIMS) maintains continuous tracking of inventories according to defined rules. The channel partners, head office and pre defined roles can track inventories within its value chain using SMIMS functionality.

It transmits accurate inventory information and allows the user to track the inventory at all the stages. It enables the user to locate the availability of stocks at various places throughout the chain. This results in proper utilization of the stocks and, reduces the holding costs. Using SMIMS, users can map dead stocks and avoids the loss due to expiry.

Star Minds provides distinct reconciliation process solutions that support date-effective comparisons. The solution permits users to reconcile their inventory lots with the inventory management system's data. This feature helps users to update stocks on the receipt of goods, from the factory or warehouse based on a ‘Stock Transfer’. This functionality allows the user to keep their inventory records updated. Which means that any user viewing the ‘Stock Report’ across the value chain gets to know the status of current inventory available in the warehouse in a flash.

'Inventory Adjustment’ functionality allows the users to take care of exceptions in maintaining inventory levels by allowing adjustment to current inventory. These adjustments for the goods that are "lost in transit" or "in fire", "goods returned". A special provision allows users to reconcile inventory by adding or subtracting values from the opening stock.

Using this functionality, users can account for the reduction in inventory based on the dispatches made to the customer against an order.

Order Capture

Star Minds allows order capture in the form of Indents. A user can place an order by filling a simple order form. The application allows fast order entry function, where business partner i.e. the distributor, dealer, C&F or end customer can create and store order templates for placing recurring orders that are similar. It is possible to track the statuses of all orders at anytime via the Internet, and to retrieve information on open items and the status of outstanding orders.

Roles and Personalization

With SMIMS, users have access to the internal and external information, applications, and services that are relevant to their role in the organization. Employees and external business partners can be assigned roles that are under company control.

SMIMS’ roles are a simple collection of content that a user needs to access to do his or her job. Roles are specific to individual groups of internal and external users, and they match their specific tasks and information or service needs.

The roles can be company wide, such as a generic "employee" role, or very specific, such as "demand planner". Our system offers predefined roles that you can use as they are, or as templates for customized roles. You can also create your own roles.

Our role capability is complemented by a "personaliza-tion" capability. While roles essentially capture and deliver corporate knowledge, personalization lets users tailor our systems to fit their individual preferences. Together, these capabilities ensure that users have easy, fast access to the entire range of critical, relevant content that they need and want.

Workflow and Business Rules

SMIMS workflow automates your business processes in a
flexible and transparent way. It integrates tasks across department’s
applications and system boundaries. The workflow definition maps
the individual tasks to the users and helps the users through the process. Steps, which do not require user intervention, are carried out automatically, along with business logic and escalation procedures. The process creates a precise ‘Audit Trail’ and can provide powerful analysis reporting to allow you to optimize your process.

The Business Workflow is a fully-fledged workflow system delivering:
Functionality and tools for workflow

The solutions offer two payoffs. First, companies can achieve bottom-line cost savings by streamlining distribution logistics, inventory management and reducing the cost of sales. Second, they boost top-line revenues by increasing channel and customer loyalty, creating competitive differentiation and reaching new markets.

Enterprise Resource Planning
FALCO ELECTRONICS - CHINA

As Falco Electronics is growing and expanding to all the corners of the globe, their information needs are growing at the same speed thus for an enterprise it is imperative to improve or replace old systems. Thus it, instead of investing loads of money in to small software applications has moved towards ERP solutions which can be more parameterized according to their day to day needs and in the event that some customization is required and if the parameterization does not support it, it is not a problem for the enterprise to organize a small team of IT professionals to achieve the said task in some other tool.

The most distinguishing characteristic of Star Minds ERP systems is their comprehensiveness. It broadly covers Sales and Distribution, Business Planning, Production Planning, Shop Floor Control, and Logistics. On the surface, this would seem to cover anything that SCM claims to provide. First, Sales and Distribution covers order entry and delivery scheduling. This module also naturally checks on product availability to ensure timely delivery, and checks the customer's credit line. Business Planning consists of demand forecasting, planning of product production and capacity, and the detailed routing information that describes where (in which work cells) and in what sequence the product is actually made.

The capacity and production planning gets very complex, and simulation tools are provided as part of R/3 that can help managers to decide how to overcome shortages in materials, labor, or time. Once the Master Production Schedule is complete, that data is fed into the MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) module. The MRP has three principle pieces of output: An exception report, an MRP list, and order proposals. The exception report brings to attention situations that need attention, such as late delivery of materials, and rescheduling proposals. The MRP list shows the details of shipments and receipts for each product and component. Order proposals are used to order materials and issue production orders.

This naturally leads to Shop Floor Control. The planned orders from the MRP are converted to production orders. This leads to production scheduling, dispatching, and job costing. Finally, the Logistics system takes care of the rest, assuring timely delivery to the customer. Logistics in this case consists of inventory and warehouse management, and delivery. The purchasing function is also usually grouped under logistics, Sales & Forecasting Data. Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning.

Personnel Management: Our System comprises of
Human Resource Management System

  • Data Warehousing:
The retrieval of data for analysis is easy and by being on line it is selectively transparent.
  • Data Segmentation.
This makes decision-making processes smoother and enables the manager to stop spending time looking for information and breaking it down into meaningful batches.
  • Data Analysis:
This enables the HR specialist to see at a glance who fits into which description. For instance he will know how many women work for the company. How many are tri-lingual, how many are postgraduates, how many are married and how many are computer savvy. He can find out who will be retiring when, whose birthday is on which day and whose anniversary falls on which day. A computerized package will send the message to the worker on the correct day from the CEO's office and thus make him feel belonged.

Human resource planning
This enables the HR planner to place the right man at the right job with the greatest of ease. He will know how many engineers, for needed in Plant A three years hence since so many will retire, how many computer programmers are there and what is the level of their utilization, how many persons are redundant and need to be transferred, retrained or retired. This is crucial at the time of mergers, takeovers and downsizing experiments.

Human resource development
This enables the HR specialist to know who needs training, in what fields and where can this training be conducted in the simplest and most efficient manner. It begins with a Training Needs Analysis (TNA), is followed up by a Manpower Skills Inventory (MSI) and ends with the matching of persons to programs. There is a package that assesses the cost of training and helps to measure the impact of training. This provides an effective feedback for the HR specialist.

Human resource development
This enables administering recruitment, selection, promotion and transfers within the organization. This takes care of the necessary paperwork and helps the HR specialist to maintain a firm grip on the organizational environment.
